Newbury Supports Special Olympics
Five Newbury College student-athletes volunteered and supported Special Olympics athletes from surrounding Eastern Massachusetts cities and towns at the eight annual Bio-Ball Tournament* at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, Mass., Saturday afternoon April 28th.

For the second straight year seniors Patrick Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) and Jessica Graus (Rochester, N.Y.) highlighted the 2011-12 Newbury College Athletic Banquet receiving Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2011-12 academic year.

Swafford Garners End of the Year Accolades
Junior Jennifer Swafford (Merrimack, N.H.) earned New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Honorable Mention honors for singles by the six head coaches in the conference. The New Hampshire native finished the season with a 6-3 record from the second singles slot in the line-up.

Nighthawks Drop Season Series to Pride
The Newbury College women’s tennis team dropped the season series to Regis College, 5-4, at The Mount Auburn Tennis Club in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action, Thursday afternoon. Before the match, the Nighthawks honored senior Kristen Conners (Riverside, R.I.), who was competing in her final home match of her collegiate career, for her four years of dedication to the program.

Nighthawks Fall to Tought Wildcat Team
The Newbury College women’s tennis fell to Bay Path College, 9-0, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action Tuesday afternoon. Senior Sarah Costa (Tiverton, R.I./Tiverton) won both first singles and first doubles to pave the Wildcats to their fifth conference victory and eighth win overall on the season. Despite the loss, junior Julie MacLeod (Buffalo, N.Y.) played solid in both singles and doubles.

Nighthawks Fall to Corsairs, 9-0
The Newbury College women’s tennis team dropped a non-conference match to a tough UMass-Dartmouth team, 9-0, Friday afternoon. Senior Courtney Morey (Mashpee, Mass.) paved the way to shut-out victory winning both singles and doubles.

The Newbury College women’s tennis team continued their dominance over New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) foe, Mitchell College, extending their win-streak over the Mariners to eight games with the 5-4 victory, Thursday afternoon. It was their first victory of the 2011 season after many close calls in past matches.

Nighthawks Drop Season Series to Lynx
The Newbury College women’s tennis team dropped their second meeting of the season to Lesley University, 6-3, Tuesday evening. Junior Jennifer Swafford (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) highlighted the Nighthawks winning both her singles and doubles matches to claim two of Newbury’s three victories on the night.

Hawks Soar Past Nighthawks, 8-1
The Newbury College women’s tennis team fell to a tough Becker College squad, that won their eighth consecutive match, Friday afternoon, 8-1. Hawks senior Laura Mimms paved the way to victory defeating Newbury junior Jennifer Swafford , 6-4, 6-4 in first singles to improve her record to 8-1 on the season. Junior Julie MacLeod took Lianna Woodbury to a third set in fourth singles to pick up the Nighthawks victory.

Nighthawks Drop NECC Opener to Lynx, 8-1
The Newbury College women’s tennis team dropped their New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opener to nearby rivals Lesley University, 8-1, Saturday afternoon. Junior Jennifer Swafford (Merrimack, N.H.) played well despite the loss and picked up her first victory of the season in a hard-fought second singles match-up over Lesley junior Nicole Smith (Rindge, N.H), 8-5.

Women's Tennis Voted Fourth in Pre-Season Coaches Poll
The Newbury College women’s tennis team was picked to place fourth this fall in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) pre-season poll released Thursday September 1. Bay Path College was the favorite in 2011 amongst the six conference coaches receiving four first place votes to finish atop the poll with 33 points.

Newbury Releases Fall Schedules
Newbury College announces release of the Fall 2011 schedules. Cross Country will open the 2011-2012 academic year on Friday September 2nd at the Mayflower Kickoff hosted by New England College while men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and women’s tennis will all be in action on the road on Saturday September 3rd.
