Colonels Halt Nighthawks' Winning Streak

The Newbury College Women's Tennis Team lost a tough decision (6-3) to visiting Curry College today in Chestnut Hill, MA.  The Colonels improve to 3-7 while the Nighthawks put an end to their current winning streak and drop to 4-5.

Brittani Robinson (Boston, MA/Cathedral) and Stephanie Valentine (Pleasant Valley, CT/Saint Paul Catholic) were victorious in Nighthawk singles action winning with scores of 7-5, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-0 respectively.  Newbury's Anna Collins (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) and Elizabeth Valcourt (Grantham, NH/Lebanon) battled in third doubles against Curry's Jennifer De Matteo (Stamford, CT) and Lora Abujaber (Amman, Jordan).  Going point-for-point for most of set, the Nighthawks were ultimately triumphant, winning by a score of 9-7.

The Nighthawks will face the Saints of Emmanuel College on Wednesday for a non-conference match set to start at 6:30 PM.
